Fresh Food Finder for iPhone/iPad
Fresh Food Finder for Android
Both are Free
The Fresh Food Finder is the easiest way to locate farmers markets and locally grown food wherever you may be. You can select the option to search for a farmer's market near your current location, or enter a state and city or other search term to find one elsewhere. Once you've set your locale, you can view a map of the markets if you like, and you can get directions.
If the app doesn't have the information you need, like the hours of operation, there is also a link to the appropriate website.
We spent a delightful afternoon at the Cambria Farmer's market and bought baskets of blackberries, wonderful asparagus, and fresh, crisp salad veggies. The blackberries didn't even make it home!

I've had bad luck at farmers markets the food has set outside where it hot and humid the veggie go bad very fast unless they are kept in a cool climate at moderate to low humidity.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chris for this app. We love to shop the farmers markets both at home in AZ and when we travel in the summer. Found a fabulous one in Newport, OR last year when we were volunteering on the coast but the web app is harder to use. This makes them much easier to find. Most of the time it's by word of mouth.
ReplyDeleteIt found a number that we were not aware of here in the Tucson area.
One problem I am seeing with the app is that, while it knows exactly where we are on the map (Benson, AZ), the distances to some of the markets seem wrong. It can't be 45 miles to Sierra Vista unless you go by way of Tombstone!
