Like Bike-Riding? You’ll Love Rails-to-Trails

Trains need fairly level grades. The tracks can slope gently up or down, but there are no sharp changes. They often follow rivers. Both of these factors make old train tracks wonderful places to convert to paved paths for bike riding! And, there are lots of old train tracks that have indeed been converted to bike trails. It’s called Rails to Trails and you can find all of the possible bike-riding trails by visiting the website www.railstotrails.org/

As you travel these United States, you’ll do well by using the smartphone app called Traillink to find all the great Rails to Trails where you can take a wonderful bike ride.

The TrailLink app is available for both Android and iPhone. It’s free to install and search for trails near you, or search for trails near some other destination.

If you want to see the detailed map of the trail, that will cost you one credit. You see, Rails To Trails Conservancy is a non-profit organization. If you enjoy their efforts, you’ll want to support them.

Each map will cost you .50 – $1.00 depending on how many credits you buy. Or, you can fully support them and get unlimited access to maps for $29.
